A Milestone That Means More: ANZIIF Award Finalist

Some milestones mean a little more than others.

We are incredibly proud to share that Forensic Origin and Cause Investigations has been named a finalist in the Service Provider to the Insurance Industry category at the 22nd ANZIIF Australian Insurance Industry Awards. The Awards recognise excellence, innovation, professionalism and leadership across the Australian insurance sector, with the finalists selected through an independently overseen judging process.

This recognition comes just a couple of months shy of our company turning two years old in September, which makes the moment even more significant.

What started with a clear purpose

When we were established, the purpose was clear. To build a specialist fire forensics company grounded in science, independence and genuine service to our clients in Australia and worldwide.

We saw the need for qualified experts who understood that fire investigation is not simply about attending a scene and offering an opinion. It requires technical knowledge, the careful application of the scientific method, clear communication and the ability to explain complex findings in a way that assists insurers, legal professionals, businesses and other stakeholders.

Less than two years later, to be recognised alongside established service providers from across the insurance industry is something I do not take lightly.

It reflects the work that happens behind the scenes on every matter. The early starts, interstate travel, difficult scenes, evidence examinations, technical research, report writing and conversations with clients who need clear and defensible answers.

A first for specialist fire forensics

To our knowledge, we are also the first specialist fire forensics company to be recognised as a finalist in this category.

That matters because fire investigators often work quietly in the background, despite the significant role our findings can play in a claim.

A properly conducted origin and cause investigation can assist with liability decisions, recovery opportunities, litigation, risk management and future loss prevention. It can provide clarity after a devastating event and help ensure that decisions are based on evidence rather than assumption.

For a specialist fire forensics company to be recognised at this level places our profession within a broader industry conversation about service, quality and client outcomes. I hope it also helps reinforce the importance of engaging appropriately qualified, science-led experts when a fire or explosion occurs.

Built on trust

While this recognition carries our company name, it has not been achieved alone.

Our growth has been built on the trust of clients who engaged us when the business was new, referred us to colleagues and continued to instruct us on further matters. Many of those relationships have now become repeat partnerships.

You know who you are, and we sincerely thank you.

Every instruction, referral, conversation and piece of honest feedback has helped us develop the company into what it is today. Being selected as a finalist is an acknowledgement of that collective support as much as of our work.

We are also grateful to the professionals who have collaborated with us across complex matters, including insurers, loss adjusters, legal teams, engineers, laboratories, emergency services and other forensic specialists. Strong investigations are rarely achieved in isolation.

Just getting started

Reaching this milestone before our second birthday is exciting, but it does not feel like a finish line.

It feels like confirmation that there is value in doing things differently. In remaining specialists. Investing in education. In communicating clearly. In challenging outdated practices and continuing to raise expectations around what good fire investigation should look like.

As we move into our third year, our focus remains the same: providing independent, evidence-led investigations and delivering a level of service that gives our clients confidence during complex and often difficult matters.

The winners will be announced at the Awards Night at ICC Sydney on 13 August 2026. Whatever the outcome, being recognised at this stage of our company’s journey is already something we are extremely proud of.
